“Hello, my name is _______________.”
The In Print October 8 meeting invites all Protagonists to come and party! (Or Antagonist, or any character you feel could benefit from time beneath the microscope.)
We’ll focus on character development, the things that make you, the character, tick. Be prepared to discuss yourself in detail. We will conduct interviews and have worksheets available to stimulate your responses. We’ll cover as much as we can in the time allotted– everything from the importance of name selection to how physical description lends itself to the story to why you love/hate the things you do.
Not everything goes in the novel, memoir or short story, but the more the author knows, the more well-rounded the character. No more two-dimensional characters!
If you are working on a memoir, come as you are! You obviously already know the facts of your character, but through these discussions, you’ll be able to prioritize your insight to see what details are most important. Non-fiction writers can use this time to discover what elements of your book you want to focus on. Our poetry subjects may cover a lot more personalities than the novel protagonists, but subject exploration covers all genres.
Feel free to bring notes, but definitely be prepared to take notes. We look forward to getting to know you. The meeting is October 8 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the large meeting room at the Cherry Valley District Library.
