With National Novel Writing Month coming up in November, October’s meeting will take members through the Mythic Journey of Writers.

“A hero ventures forth from the world of common day into a region of supernatural wonder: fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive victory is won: the hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons on his fellow man.”

Sound familiar?  Joesph Campbell first wrote about the monomyth in 1949 and screenwriter Christopher Vogler explains most stories can be boiled down to a series of narrative structures and character archetypes, described through mythological allegory.  We’ll walk through the journey together.

This month’s meeting will be Saturday, October 12 at 1 pm at the Rockford Public Library – East Branch.
