The Prompt Club met March 15. The “There was something not quite right about the (fill in the blank).” prompts were very interesting. Some were humorous, some tragic, some were -ahem- erotica light.
For April, there is no prompt per se. The selected prompt is based on a quote from Adam Johnson. “I think the short story is a machine, and it has lots of gears that turn: voice, style, architecture, chronology, scene selection.” Write a short story paying particular attention to two of the five “gears” mentioned in the quote. Read your story and then we’ll discuss your gears. Does this story focus on character development? Is scene so important it could be considered a character? Is the voice strong?
We are also upping the word count to 1,500 words. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, April 19th at 6:00 pm at the Cherry Valley District Library.
