What is Word of Art?

What is Word of Art?

I participated in a similar author/artist partnership a few years back. They did a book, which ours is based on, and the paintings were hung as part of the Art in Your Eye art festival in Batavia, but I wanted MORE.

With Word of Art 1 and 2, I’d say–without bias–that we have achieved MORE.

Our first two years we partnered with Emmanuel Lutheran Church, hosting the exhibition in their gallery. It was perfect for displaying the Word and Art. In our third year, we were contacted by Burpee Museum of Natural History to be included as part of their 75th Anniversary celebration.

Do you have ANY IDEA how exciting this is for ME?! I grew up with Burpee! Burpee is not only an historical staple of the Rockford region, but it’s also nationally renowned as one of the top museums in the country! And my little author/artist collaboration is partnered with them?! I am a proud mama.

Then we thought, as long as we’re mixing things up with a new venue, how about we add DIMENSION?! You know, Word of Art 3D! We have 41 participants from 22 cities and 5 states. In three meager years, Word of Art has conquered the Midwest!

After months of planning, wording, and arting, Word of Art 3 is upon us.
And really, I’m almost finished printing…

Registration now open to CWA members!

For the fourth consecutive year, the Chicago Writers Association has applied for a full tent at the Chicago Tribune Printers Row Lit Fest, which will be held Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11. We invite our member authors and book sellers to join us under the tent.

This year, in an effort to open up more slots and also to make the slots more equitable and less costly, we are changing things up a bit. We will be offering a total of 36 Saturday slots, ranging from 2.5 to 3 hours. Sunday slots will remain the same with a total of 24 4-hour slots. Because we will have more authors, we are passing the savings on to you. The cost per slot is dropping from $50 to $40. So even though the tent cost hasn’t gone down our authors will be paying less to participate.

The time slots will be as follows:

Saturday, June 10:
10 am to 12:30 pm
12:30 pm to 3 pm (SOLD OUT!)
3 pm to 6 pm

Sunday, June 12:
10 am to 2 pm (SOLD OUT!)
2 pm to 6 pm

All slots will be $40. Limit one slot per person.

Payments must be made online with PayPal using the button. Spaces are only available to registered members. Click here to go to page with PayPal button.

When purchasing a slot online use the drop down box to select your date and time. Dates and time slots are first come, first served. If your first choice is sold out, consider another date and time.  Note: we are not accepting payment by any method other than PayPal. All payments are non-refundable as of May 31, 2016. In the event that we do not get the requested space, all payments will be refunded.
